On the occasion of the Benvenuto Brunello event, organized by the Consorzio del Vino Brunello di Montalcino every February, we had the pleasure of visiting the Tenuta Il Poggione and Le Macioche wine estates, where we were able to preview the wines we offer in our restaurants.

One of the largest estates in the municipality of Montalcino: spanning approximately 600 hectares across the beautiful Tuscan hills, its diversified agriculture divides the land between vineyards and olive groves. Thanks to the care and attention given to the land, Tenuta Il Poggione today carries out continuous monitoring of the vineyard’s health and nutrient requirements to obtain a product of excellent quality.
At Il Poggione, we were able to experience the passion that the owners of this company place in tradition and genuine products, reflecting these values in the winemaking process as well as in the harvesting and pressing phases of the olives from which they obtain their own oil: exquisite!

Le Macioche
The recent acquisition of the Azienda Agricola Le Macioche is a dream come true for the Cotarella Family.
Famiglia Cotarella is a young yet historic brand, with decades of experience and tradition in the field of wine behind it. Created in 2016 by Dominga, Marta, and Enrica Cotarella—the third generation of the family—it brings together the best of the production tested and developed over the years, including the project linked to Tuscany and Brunello di Montalcino.
The estate covers a total area of approximately 6 hectares, 3 of which are classified for Brunello, and takes its name from the “macioca,” which in the Sienese dialect refers to the root of the strawberry tree that makes up the woods surrounding the estate.
A challenge and a great opportunity to broaden its horizons and engage with a territory considered a benchmark in the Italian and international oenological landscape, it was with the 2017 harvest that Famiglia Cotarella decided to launch this new and exciting adventure.
